Allo Allo … Noumea At Last

SatPhone call received 10:45pm Sunday 25 April

After 11 days of beating into head winds the crew of Chimere are well pleased to be tied up at a marina in Noumea.

Customs and clearance formalities will be concluded tomorrow, but through broken shool-boy French it is understood a security guard was asked to obtain some pizzas for dinner which he kindly did.

In the course of the quickphone call it was also learned that the crew … shock, horror … as also partaking of a shower … or, I assume 5 separate showers to be exact.

The next two days will be spent drying out and attending to maintenance issues onboard. No doubt more will be reported tomorrow after they’ve all had a good night’s sleep. It doesn’t take much to imagine that the stillness of the marina will be a welcome relief tonight.

  1. Greetings and congratulations to the crew after such a long time leaning left!
I’ve been relaying information about your fantastic work and adventure to my family and friends after catching some of the vision of your project from Club Marine’s publication.
You’re combination of vision and perseverance is an absolute credit.
    Regards
    Sam

  2. Lets hope Chimere meets more favourable winds on the last leg to Tanna, and no more technical hitches!

  3. Thank you Sam for your message and encouragement. Look forward to keeping in touch over the next few months as the mission unfolds
