Melbourne born and raised I recently celebrated 48 laps of the sun. Nancy and I have been married for over two decades and we have lived in Park Orchards for twelve years. We share our family home with our teenage daughters Angelica and Michela and nearly twelve year old son Eamon (as well as dog Winnie – a Shitzu x Toy Poodle).
I am a local general practice dentist with clinics in Ringwood and Park Orchards and I take an active interest in many dental societies and associations having graduated from Melbourne Uni in 1984.
My interests are many and varied. I am an avid reader and usually have two-three books on the go at any one time, especially works associated with history. Science fiction (minus the fantasy elements – if that is not an oxymoron) is a passion. The Star Wars universe has always been a personal favorite: I drive around in a black Subaru wagon with dark tinted windows displaying the registration plates ANAKIN.
Since the late 1980’s I have been a member of the Australian Skeptics and regularly attend their conferences. I subscribe to the Skeptical Inquirer (US) and New Scientist.
Locally, I am the immediate past president of the Park Orchards Netball Club (PONC) and since 1998, I have been a very proud (and vocal) member of the Melbourne Storm Rugby League club.
I am keenly looking forward to my experience with MSM in Vanuatu. I hope to assess the dental needs of the local people to allow better access to dental care with future visits. I will also bring my emergency “extraction kit” to hopefully handle any immediate problems the villagers may present me with.
My sailing experience is close to zero but I have signed on as a crewmember to learn. I have experience with scuba and will bring my snorkeling gear to investigate life under the waves – and maybe help in supplementing our diet with some local fish.
